2026 Honorees
Henry Cisneros
We are proud to honor Henry Cisneros, a nationally recognized leader in public service, urban development, and community building. A former Mayor of San Antonio and U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton, Dr. Cisneros has played a transformative role in shaping cities and expanding opportunities for communities across the country.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has championed economic growth, housing innovation, and civic leadership, helping revitalize urban centers and strengthen neighborhoods nationwide. His work has spanned both the public and private sectors, including leadership roles in investment, infrastructure, and housing development, where he has continued to advance equitable and sustainable communities.
A proud San Antonian, Dr. Cisneros remains deeply connected to the city that shaped his early career. His lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community impact continues to inspire future generations and reflects the enduring values at the heart of the San AnTony Awards.
Nicholas Gonzalez
We are proud to present the Bill Gundry Artistic Legacy Award to Nicholas Gonzalez. This award debuts at the San AnTony Awards in honor of William Richard “Bill” Gundry (1951–2021), a beloved San Antonio theatre artist, director, broadcaster, and community advocate whose vision helped shape the foundation of Seniors in Play.
Best known for his role as Dr. Neil Melendez on ABC’s The Good Doctor and most recently as Levi Delgado on NBC’s La Brea, Nicholas Gonzalez has built a distinguished career across television and film. A Texas native and Stanford graduate, he brings depth and authenticity to every role he portrays.
Beyond his work on screen, Nicholas is a dedicated father, husband, actor, and producer committed to telling stories that illuminate the struggles, resilience, and triumphs of the human experience. His passion for meaningful storytelling and artistic excellence embodies the spirit of the Bill Gundry Artistic Legacy Award.
Discovering Joy, Sharing Stories, Building Community
At Seniors in Play, our seniors unlock their imaginations, share life stories, and thrive through the performing arts. From storytelling circles to theater trips and acting classes, they connect, create, and collaborate—bringing their stories to life in performances across San Antonio. These experiences foster cognitive vitality, social engagement, and creative expression, proving that it’s never too late to shine.
Since founding this program over seven years ago, I’ve witnessed countless transformations—seniors finding confidence, joy, and renewed purpose. Their journey continues to inspire me every day.
I invite you to join us at the 4th Annual San AnTony Awards on October 1st at the Tobin Center to celebrate our seniors and the power of creativity. Together, we can honor their stories and sustain this life-changing mission.
