Denise Thieme is a nonprofit leader and development professional based in San Antonio, Texas, currently serving as Director of Development at Arts in Play. With a background in fundraising, marketing, and community engagement, she specializes in building strategic partnerships and securing resources that expand access to the arts—particularly for older adults. Her work supports programs like Seniors in Play, which uses theatre and storytelling to foster connection, creativity, and well-being among seniors across the city.

Originally from the Rio Grande Valley, Denise brings a deep commitment to community-driven work and a strong understanding of the diverse regions of Texas. She has held development and marketing roles at organizations including SAY Sí, St. PJ’s Children’s Home, and Brighton Center, where she led successful campaigns, increased visibility, and strengthened donor engagement. Denise is passionate about creating sustainable programs that center lived experience and build meaningful connections across communities.

Outside of her professional work, Denise is married to her husband, Ken, and is a proud mom to her 9-year-old daughter, Amelia.
