Seniors in Play (SIP) is a program that utilizes performing arts to develop senior citizens’ well-being and maintain cognitive health with a focus on a playful and social environment where vitality is key.

 

Seniors in Play was founded in 2017 by award-winning actor Tony Plana. Soon after, the theater program teamed with Senior Planet San Antonio, allowing members and participants to step onto the digital stage and express themselves in a brand new way. The free class has resulted in a flourishing community filled with enthusiastic learning, impassioned performances, and blossoming friendships.

Meet the Founder: Tony Plana

Seniors in Play founder/teacher Tony Plana is a professional actor, director, and arts & education advocate with a career in film and television that spans more than four decades. Tony has performed in more than 70 feature films, including JFKAn Officer and a Gentleman, and Three Amigos. Recent films include Roman J. Israel, Esquire starring Denzel Washington, the recently released, Bombshell with Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman and Wasp Network with Penelope Cruz. He starred in ABC’s hit series Ugly Betty as Ignacio Suarez, the widowed father of America Ferrera’s title character.
